Adult Day Programs - Spring/Summer Term

Our Adult Day Programs provide a warm and welcoming environment where persons living with dementia receive compassionate care from qualified professionals who understand their unique needs.

Locations:

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program in Therapeutic Recreation, Activation, Social Services, Gerontology, or Personal Support Worker.
  • Availability: Monday to Friday between 9 am and 4 pm.
  • Flexible regarding days and times.
  • A second language is an asset.
  • Minimum age: 18.

Nora’s House Respite Care

Nora's House is an overnight respite care service that provides a secure, home-like environment with 24/7 care for persons living with dementia, offering CarePartners a much-needed break.

It is located in Mississauga, near the intersection of Mississauga Road and Dundas Street.

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in a Personal Support Worker program.
  • Availability: Monday to Friday, either 7:00 am – 3:00 pm or 2:30 pm – 10:30 pm
  • Flexible regarding days and times.
  • Having a second language is an asset.
  • Minimum age: 18.

Dementia Resource Consultant Support

Dementia Resource consultants offer information, education, strategies, and referral services to persons living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and informal CarePartners. Our Dementia Resource consultants connect with clients through phone calls, emails, or live video conferencing. We also provide in-person support at our offices, in the community, or at a client’s home if necessary.

Location:
60 Briarwood Ave. Mississauga.

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in an approved Social Work Program, a Gerontology Social Service Worker Program, or a University Social Work Degree Program.
  • Availability: Monday to Friday, between 9 am and 4 pm.
  • Flexible with days and times.
  • Having a second language is an asset.
  • Minimum age: 18

Music Therapy Internship or Placement

Our Music Therapy program at the Alzheimer Society Peel is a community, person-centred, resource-oriented music therapy program. It offers one-on-one, small group and large group programs for all clients attending day programs, respite care and community music programs.

Locations:

Multi-Site Internship is also available with Julia’s Place Music Therapy Centre.

What we are looking for:

  • Currently enrolled in a Canadian Association for Music Therapists-approved degree program.
  • Availability: Monday to Friday between 8 am and 4 pm.
  • Flexible regarding days and times.
  • A second language is an asset.
  • Minimum age: 18.

Placement Application

If you want to apply for a Student Placement, please send your resume to studentplacement@alzheimerpeel.com.

The student placement process will include:

  • Attending an interview.
  • Obtaining a vulnerable person's police records check.
  • Visual check on COVID-19 vaccination with a minimum of two shots.
  • Attending a dementia education session.
  • Taking part in a complete site tour/orientation.
  • Reviewing all society-wide policies and procedures.
  • Completing THRIVE training.
  • Reviewing all society-wide policies and procedures.
