Music Care Certify w/Rm 217
On Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023, Alzheimer Society Peel (ASP) became the first organization in Canada to achieve MUSIC CARE Certification. We have achieved a gold standard.
What is Music Care?
Music Care is the intentional use of music by anyone to improve health and well-being. It can be applied in formal health care settings, community spaces, or at home. By integrating sound and music into daily routines, music care fosters person-centred care, builds intercultural and intergenerational connections, and deepens relationships in caregiving. It’s inclusive, allowing all caregivers—regardless of musical ability—to enhance care through music.
MUSIC CARE CERTIFY is Canada’s first quality improvement program for music care. It provides structured frameworks to embed music into all aspects of care, focusing on operational excellence, education, and quality assurance. At ASP, we proudly uphold these standards by integrating music into our services, improving sound environments, offering training for all staff, creating and sharing resources, and conducting research.
